The Women's Research Institute is a research and teaching entity that serves the entire Brigham Young University community.
The Women's Research Institute:
- conducts basic and applied research to help fill the pressing need for quality information on women, their unique experiences, and their contributions.
- stimulates and supports faculty research related to women in all disciplines, thereby increasing faculty productivity.
- sponsors and coordinates academic colloquia, conferences, and courses on women, thus developing a network of interdisciplinary faculty and student scholars.
- offers a unique academic minor in Women's Studies aligned not only with published scholarship on women, but also with revealed understanding of their worth.
- contributes to theoretical frameworks emerging in Women's Studies through professional publications and presentations that expand the understanding of women's potential.
- represents women’s perspectives within the academy and the university's commitment to scholarship on women in academic circles.
